Ru Nam Cafe, Ho Chi Minh City
BEST PLACES : RU NAM CAFE, HO CHI MINH CITY
From Alex in Vietnam. Originally from London, I met Alex when we all lived in Shanghai. We have traveled together to Montana and Moganshan but my favorite adventure was our week at his family home in the countryside near Bordeaux, France. I asked Alex to recommend Ho Chi Minh’s best coffee house.
My favorite café in Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon is called Ru Nam Café (96 Mac Thi Buoi Street, District 1, Saigon). Even though it’s primarily a coffee shop serving delicious brewed coffee, it’s their Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches that I particularly love. They divide up the baguette into manageable sizes and the traditional meats, pâté, pickles, chili and fresh vegetables inside don’t feel too heavy or too light. Perfect for a snack. The location is about as central as you can get and the decor/ambience is stylish but relaxed; Vietnamese, but simultaneously knowingly international.
