WEEKEND IN THE MIDI-PYRENEES

We recently journeyed to the Midi-Pyrénées, to a verdant springtime landscape in the Ariège. We stayed in Seix. It’s pronounced just like sex, which, since we have two teenage boys, caused laughter every time we said it. We hit the mark when we chose a small hotel called Auberge Des Deux Rivières. The owners are very friendly and provided us with a warm welcome, mouth watering breakfast pastries and spectacular evening meals that would be hard to beat.
We walked the hills with our boys, as we always do, even when they hem and haw. But since they are getting older and have their own preferences, our journeys include their interests more and more. Our older son researched river kayaking options and made it easy for us to say “yes.” And both boys carried their skateboards with them, finding hard surface to practice tricks, sometimes in surprising places.
